1. Alonzo Mourning

Alonzo Mourning is one of the best defensive players in NBA history. He was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets with the second overall pick in the 1992 NBA Draft.

Mourning played eight seasons for the Hornets and was named to six All-Star teams. He was also named Defensive Player of the Year in 1999. Mourning averaged 21.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and two blocks per game during his time with Charlotte.

In 2002, Mourning was traded to the Miami Heat where he won an NBA Championship in 2006. His number 33 jersey has been retired by both the Charlotte Hornets and Miami Heat.

2. Larry Johnson

Larry Johnson was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets with the first overall pick in the 1991 NBA Draft. He played five seasons for the Hornets and was named to two All-Star teams.

Johnson averaged 19.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and four assists per game during his time with Charlotte. He is best remembered for hitting a game-winning shot against the New York Knicks in the 1993 NBA Playoffs. In 1996, Johnson was traded to the New York Knicks where he played three seasons before retiring from basketball. His number 2 jersey has been retired by the Charlotte Hornets.

3. Glen Rice

Glen Rice was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets with the fourth overall pick in the 1989 NBA Draft. He played six seasons for the Hornets and was named to three All-Star teams.

Rice averaged 21.0 points, four rebounds and two assists per game during his time with Charlotte. He is the Hornets’ all-time leader in points scored (11,558). In 1995, Rice was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers where he won an NBA Championship in 2000. His number 41 jersey has been retired by the Charlotte Hornets.

4. Muggsy Bogues

Muggsy Bogues is the Hornets’ all-time leader in assists (5217). He was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets with the 12th overall pick in the 1987 NBA Draft.

Bogues played 10 seasons for the Hornets and was named to one All-Star team. He averaged 11.0 points, eight assists and two steals per game during his time with Charlotte. In 1997, Bogues was traded to the Toronto Raptors where he played two seasons before retiring from basketball. His number 12 jersey has been retired by the Charlotte Hornets.

5. Kemba Walker

Kemba Walker is the Hornets’ all-time leader in three-pointers made (1186). He was drafted by the Charlotte Hornets with the ninth overall pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.

Walker has played eight seasons for the Hornets and has been named to two All-Star teams. He averaged 22.0 points, five assists and four rebounds per game during his time with Charlotte. In 2019, Walker was traded to the Boston Celtics where he currently plays.
