Please continue to read!

The first tip is for those users who have doubts whether they have performed and completed the Netgear EX2700 setup process correctly and completely or not.

Resetting Netgear Extender

Yes, absolutely! Resetting Netgear extender is one of the most important fixes to consider. The reset process will clear everything. It will make the device brand new. And after performing the process, you can perform the Netgear EX2700 setup process again.

First, allow me to guide you instructions to reset Netgear extender.

Step 1: Please disconnect all the devices that have gained access to Netgear_ext, even router.

Step 2: After disconnecting, press the reset hole on your extender using any pointed object, and hold it for several seconds.

Step 3: Release the EX2700’s hole as soon as you find that the power LED on it has started blinking in green color.

Are you a newbie? Well, I don’t think so because you have reset your Netgear extender like a professional. That’s very good!

Now, you have reset your device, don’t you? Then, why wait? Scroll down and grab the Netgear extender setup steps.

Setup Netgear Extender

Step 1: First of all, you have to be 100 percent sure that your EX2700 device is getting a power supply that is steady and continuous. Fluctuation while performing Netgear EX2700 setup will not work as ups and downs in the power will interrupt the process.

The stable green power LED on your Netgear extender indicates that your EX2700 device is on a constant power supply.

Step 2: Connect your Netgear EX2700 extender and router via Ethernet source.

Step 3: Turn on any WiFi device you have, be it Windows computer/ laptop or iPhone or iPad.

Step 4: Gain access to Netgear_ext again.

Step 5: As soon as you are accessing Netgear_ext (extender’s default SSID), launch a web browser of your choice. Please, I personally request, do not proceed with Netgear EX2700 setup process if the browser version you are using is outdated and browsing history is stored on the browser. Further in this article, you will get to know the reason.

Step 6: Enter mywifiext.net in the address bar. The web address, mywifiext.net is meant only for those users who are using Windows computer or laptop for Netgear EX2700 setup. And, those users who have iPhone or iPad can use mywifiext.local.

Fab! You have much more technical knowledge than me! You have reached the last step in few minutes. Congrats!

Step 7: What? New extender setup page is opened in front of you. Click on the new extender setup button.

Step 8: Providing the default login details of your Netgear EX2700 extender will take you to the setup wizard of your device.

Your extender is now configured! How? Folks! Just click on the available couple of positive responses. That’s it! No need to look here and there! Just do what the displayed page ask you to do.

Note: The options vary from extender’s model to model! I can’t provide you the complete instructions! The reason being, I have Netgear N300 WiFi range extender (WN3000RP). Honestly, I don’t want to misguide you by providing the instructions that I have. So, it’s better to go with the Netgear EX2700 extender options that the displayed page provides you.

Before I proceed further, there is important information that I would like to share with you. As I told you earlier, now the time has come to provide you the reason behind suggesting to use an up-to-date web browser in step 5, remembered?

Mywifiext.net or mywifiext.local is the reason behind it. No matter that you are entering the web address carefully without typing errors. No matter that you are using the copy-paste technique. No matter that you are not using the browser’s search bar. What really matters is that the web address, mywifiext.local or mywifiext.net will not work on an outdated browser or with loaded browsing history.

Important Points to Consider

Now, this is for those users who have completed the Netgear EX2700 setup process, but still can’t use the internet. Please ensure the following points.

  • Make sure that the firmware version on your Netgear extender is up-to-date. Apart from this, you have to be certain that you have downloaded the correct firmware version as per the extender’s model you have.
  • Your ISP can also be the culprit. So, prior to applying any tip provided in this post, just have a word with your service provider first. Maybe he can fix the issue for you.
  • If everything is fine from your ISP ends and you still can’t use the internet, just power cycle your Netgear extender to make things working.
