Diaper Rash

These homemade remedies can help with diaper rash, which is one of the most common ailments in babies.

Diaper rash, which is the most common condition that your baby might experience, is among the most common. According to UpToDate, diaper dermatitis or diaper rash is the most common skin problem in infants and young children. It affects between 7 and 35% percent of children at any given time. Diaper rash is most common in infants aged 9-12 months. However, it can also occur anytime a child has a diaper.

Diaper rash can also be made more difficult to treat by the fact that diapers can be used or can be caused by other factors such as yeast infections, allergic reactions, or bacterial infections. Diaper rash can also be caused by frequent bowel movements and diarrhea. Additionally, prolonged exposure to stool could cause irritation.

Make your own diaper cream

You can make your own diaper cream using the Mammotomies protective barrier balm. The balm contains olive oil, shea butter, and coconut oil (an antifungal that can be used to treat yeast diaper rash). Keep your homemade diaper cream in the fridge between diaper changes. Warm the cream by first rubbing it between your fingers before you apply it to your baby.

Pharmacy Times has a similar DIY diaper rash treatment recipe. It calls for 1 cup coconut oils, 1 cup olive oil, and 4 tablespoons of beeswax pastilles. 8 drops of disinfecting lavender essential oil, 6 drops of antiseptic lemon essential oils, and 4 drops of antifungal, Antimicrobial Tea Tree essential oil.

Cornstarch can be used

Use Cornstarch for Diaper Rash instead of talcum powder to dry your baby’s bottom. After applying homemade diaper rash cream, keep a container of cornstarch close to your diaper changing area. Keep your little ones’ lungs safe from cornstarch or any other powder.

Breast milk is best

Parents who breastfeed may already be aware that liquid gold is more than just a food source for their baby’s stomach.

Although there isn’t any evidence to prove that breast milk is always beneficial, it is still a good practice. Breast milk is rich in antibodies and biodynamic properties.

Use apple cider vinegar

Laura from Clean Chef, Messy Mama suggests adding one cup of apple cider vinegar to the baby’s bath water. This will quickly get rid of any yeast-caused diaper rash.

She writes that apple cider vinegar will kill bacteria that can worsen a rash and also kill the yeast that could cause it. You can also mix a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in a cup of water, and use it to wash your baby’s bottom every time you change his diapers.

Olive oil is a good option

Dr. S. Daniel Ganjian is a pediatrician at Providence Saint John’s Health Center, Santa Monica, California. He recommends that parents use Cetaphil to clean their baby’s bowels and plain water after changing diapers. Olive oil is a soothing option, as it has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial qualities.

Ganjian recommends this soothing procedure for diaper rash irritant dermatitis, as well allergic contact dermatitis.

Coconut oil is a good option

Gritchen states, “I recommend a greasy-type product.” These products are soothing and hydrating, as well as provide moderate protection against the elements.

Coconut oil is one of the best natural products that can be included in this category. Coconut oil has been shown to be a powerful antifungal, and this may help with diaper rash.

It can be used to treat yeast rash, according to moms. Sheila Sherrill from Lake Wylie, South Carolina, says that coconut oil was the only thing that helped her baby. “Cleared it up!”

Brown flour is a good choice

Malori Avery, a Peoria, Illinois mom swears by this tried-and-true homemade diaper rash treatment. Avery states that her great-grandmother used it on 17 of her children. It was used by my grandma on me.

How to make: “Cook all-purpose flour in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring with a whisk.” Once the flour turns a sandy color, remove any lumps and place them in a container. We use salt shakers! Three days ago, I made some, and my daughter’s painful, red diaper rash has disappeared.
